Natural portrait shoot for Wendy Showell Nicholas

I will be forever grateful to receive such wonderful words from my clients. So for this one, I’ll let Wendy tell you about it.

"There's something uniquely difficult about representing yourself visually... Sometimes you need a professional to help you see yourself, so when I needed more up to date images for work, it made sense to ask a professional. Someone who, like a therapist, sees things. Jo from @origin.creative.co spent a couple of hours with me, hanging out at home where my practice is based and learning about my work. The brief was simple: me, but in my professional role.

When the photos came back, my first thought was 'do these look professional enough?' That reaction was so quick, I almost didn't notice it. I took Jo's advice and kept returning to the images, letting them settle, and as I did, I recognised something — this IS the professional me. The authentic me at work. Not performing a certain model of professional. Just me, doing what I do.

Sometimes you need someone else's eye to help you see what's already there.

I can't thank Jo enough, for her talent as a photographer, yes. For her ability to see things, yes. But mainly for her confidence and bravery in not succumbing to the pressure to provide an off the shelf construct of professionalism. In doing so, she helped me to do the same."
